A THANKFUL HEART

One day this week I jumped back into the Jeep after filling up at the Shell station. As I drove away I noticed the gas needle pointing to FULL. A full tank of gas. $28.00. My heart sprang up, YOU ARE BLESSED, JOHNNY BRAGG! My daily needs are met. My kids are happy and healthy. My wife loves me. We have a warm, comfortable home and a freezer filled with Totinos pizza for watching football. I know Jesus. What else do I need? Nothing.

Being content with having our daily needs met is the heart of God. The Apostle Paul wrote But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that (I Timothy 6:8). What a challenge for us. To stop the wanting, wanting, wanting, and move towards being content, happy, and thankful for our daily bread.

One strength I see at The Oaks is a church full of thankful folks. We emphasize this in our services. Thankfulness for what we have. Working to keep our minds and hearts focused on Jesus, knowing that we are blessed. I love on Wednesday nights when people raise their hands to testify of a blessing, to share what the Lord has done. Thankful hearts speaking of His hand.

My question for you is What are you thankful for today? Look at your life. You are filled to overflowing with His mercy, grace, and blessing. If your daily needs are met, throw up your hands and say HALLELUJAH!

Psalm 28:7, My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.
